The Bank of Africa Ghana (BoA – Ghana) has donated 50 bags of cement to the Akropong Christ Presbyterian Church toward the completion of the church’s Aged Centre.

The Aged Centre that is being planned by the Christ Presbyterian Church will include a sick-bay, clinic, leisure centre and other resources, and is expected to be completed by close of the year.

The Head of Marketing and Communications, Mr. Kofi Fumey, presenting the items on behalf of BANK OF AFRICA said the Bank is interested in supporting the welfare of the aged and is glad the church is providing a resource centre that will allow them to congregate.

He said this is the first time for a community to implement such an initiative and hoped that it will trigger a ripple-effect in other communities, since “we will all grow old one day”.

He added that there is need to institute support systems to provide a haven for the aged, and the bank will support such initiatives.

Rev. M.P. Agyepong, the 2nd Minister of the Akropong Christ Presby Church, receiving the items on behalf of the District Minister said “we must live for each other”, and was glad for the support from Bank of Africa. He said the gesture will enable the church to complete the Aged Centre in Akropong.

Akuapem area has the highest percentage number of the aged and the district Presbyterian Church alone has about 200 bedridden and about 180 moveable aged worshipping with the Akropong Christ Presbyterian Church.
